What treatments have you undergone?:
Several years of different types of chemotherapy drugs and regimes were followed by a stem cell transplant on May 15, 2008 with an unmatched, unrelated donor. Acute Graft Versus Host Disease (GVHD) was followed by Chronic Graft Versus Host Disease requiring anti-rejection and immune suppressant drugs, steroids and a myriad of other medications to deal with various symptoms that continue to this day.
If cancer walked into the room, what would you say to it?:
Who is your Rider?:
If you had cancer, what was the diagnosis?:
I was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) in the summer of 2004. CLL patients are usually monitored but left untreated and can look forward to a relatively normal life expectancy. In my case, symptoms required my doctor to treat the disease, chemotherapy made it more aggressive and a stem cell transplant became my only hope of living for more than a few years. A year after my stem cell transplant, a bone marrow biopsy showed me to be CLL-free.
What are your top 5 inspirational songs?:
I have never thought of any particular songs giving me inspiration, though a current favourite is David Guetta's 'Titanium' featuring Sia.
