What is your level of experience with cycling?:

How many years have you done the peloton ride?:

3 - Volunteer '06, Rider '07 and '09.

Why are you riding in the peloton?:

I lost my father to cancer and this is a good way to deal with that loss. I believe in facilities like Wellspring and enjoy raising funds for Wellspring. I'm also riding for my Warrior, Brooke Patton, who recently found a blood donor through one match. Please go to my sponsors webpage at http://www.jaywest.ca/charity.php and like the page. For every like they will donate $1 to Cancervive.

What are your top 5 inspirational songs you listen to while riding?:

1) Guns N Roses-Sweet Child O' Mine 2) Ace Frehley-New York Groove, 3) Simple Minds-Alive and Kicking, 4) Simple Minds-Sanctify Yourself, 5) Foo Fighters-Learn to Fly.

Who are you riding for?:

My father and my warrior, Brooke Patton.

What do you hope to get out of the experience this year?:

New friends and the opportunity for my warrior to take a break from her cancer regime.

What are you looking forward to most?:

Making the trip out East. I haven't spent alot of time in the Eastern United States.

What is your biggest fear for this journey?:

How have you been affected by cancer?:

Prostate/bone cancer took my father.

If cancer walked into the room, what would you say to it?:

Screw you ...... and this acronym borrowed from Lance Armstrong: Courage. Attitude. Never give up.

What makes you pedal harder—(when the riding gets tough, what do you think about)?:

The fact that I'm able to ride and take part in events like Cancervive.

Had to tweet this. I ride when I can – but will have to do this all next week. More people certainly should.
